DAY 20 - T

We returned home yesterday (Sunday) just before noon, which was great because we still had the rest of the day to clean up the trailer, the truck and ourselves. The sun was blazing (finally!) and we just wanted to get right back outside. I was able to get Jordyn down for a nap in her own crib, showered our camping grease off and then we all met out on our street with our lawn chairs, some cold ones and a game of Kan Jam. If you've never heard of it, which I didn't until our neighbours introduced it to us last year on a camping trip, you have got to get it. It's a great group game, but watch out for those competitive ones! You can get it here. It's basically a hollow bucket with a slit and you have to throw the frisbee through that slit or at least hit the bucket for points. Super fun, but the wind was not on our side!

So back to the trip. As I mentioned before, we went to a provincial park, Goldstream, which was only 20 minutes from home. Perfect for a first-of-the-year camping trip in case we forgot anything. The forest was beautiful! The only downside of camping in the forest was that we didn't get much sun and at this time of year, the shade is cold! Also, those trees and moss were pollinating like crazy! By the time we left, we had a fine blanket of yellow dust on EVERYTHING! Thank goodness no one was severely allergic, though some of the kids had puffy eyes.

On Saturday, we hiked to the Goldstream waterfalls. Beautiful and right in our backyard! After that, my friend and I, with Jordyn in the stroller for her naptime walked out of the park and to the local pub for some deep fried pickles, wings and potato skins. YUM! Jordyn slept the whole way there and during lunch. Perfect.

The site was nice too, big park for the kids. They loved taking Jordyn down the slides and she even got the courage to go down the high slide all by herself! Big girl now! Grandma and grandpa came for a visit too and grandpa had a try at Kan Jam. He was on my team and we were not doing too well, but we made a huge comeback once he got the hang of the frisbee! Well, me too.

Smokies and burgers on the barbee for dinner followed by some good laughs around the campfire with everyone and a tot who slept the through the night (both nights) calls for a successful intro to the camping season!

Looking forward to more trips and more sunshine! See below for a few pics with the last photo of our crew yesterday enjoying the sun at home!
