DAY 8 - H
I have to dedicate this day to the Humboldt Broncos. A horrible tragedy happened on Friday when the team was headed to a playoff game Nipawin, Saskatchewan from Humboldt, Saskatchewan. The team bus collided with a tractor-trailer hauling peat moss. Both vehicles were obliterated by the impact. Fifteen people died and fourteen injured. The cause has yet to be determined.
As hockey runs deep in my family with my father, grandfather, great-grandfather playing this sport as well as my husband and all his brothers also playing hockey, this horrific event definitely struck a chord with us. It has shaken our whole country and beyond.
You can read the full story here.
Supporting Canadians have been placing hockey sticks outside their homes in honour of the team and their families. We don't have any hockey sticks here anymore to put out, but I would like to share my mother-in-law's post as they have all four hockey sticks that my husband and his 3 brothers played with as kids and placed them outside their home to honour the Humboldt Broncos. See Donna's post here from Retirement Reflections.
Our deepest condolences go out to the families and the community in Saskatchewan.
