The A to Z Challenge - I Accept!

I am sitting here on this extremely windy day watching my 16-month-old on the baby monitor (nap time) smash books into the wall and throw out all her stuffies from the crib (happily, of course!) and I ponder this great challenge that I have accepted and make a promise to myself that I will see this through.
I have been trying to get back into my groove of writing my blog and updating it regularly, so what better way to do it than to accept a challenge to write every single day (except the last 4 Sundays) for the month of April with an A to Z theme?! Yikes! What will I write about on those funny letter days (Q, X, Z)? I might have to get creative with them.
This fun Blog Challenge was started in 2010 by Arlee Bird with only 100 bloggers and in only 2 years, the number of bloggers has jumped to 1700! We have yet to see the numbers for 2018, but I am very excited to be writing amongst hundreds of fellow challenge-takers!
My theme for this month is Spring as it has finally sprung out here on Vancouver Island, Canada and topic for today is April fools. (rubbing hands together as I have a plan!)
DAY 1 - April Fools
What do you guys do on April fools day? Do you have kids? If so, is it appropriate to prank them too? My little one is too young, but I can’t wait to do some friendly pranks on my kids one day!
I have a sneaky fun plan to do on hubby today and I will share it with you now as I am not going to post this until later tonight :)
It consists of a roll of toilet paper and a black marker. Cory is not super scared of spiders, but who loves to see one suddenly at any given moment, especially a moment of such vulnerability as when you’re sitting on the throne! Ha ha! Basically, I will draw a nice sized spider on a square a few squares back and as he rolls it towards him I hope to hear a yell…or at least a laugh. I will let you know how this goes in my post tomorrow. Timing is everything.
A BIT OF HISTORY
April Fools’ Day, a.k.a. All Fools’ Day was said to have started in 1532 when France switched from the Julian calendar to the Gregorian calendar, which was done in 1563. Many who still celebrated the year-end at the end of March to April 1st as opposed to the new calendar, January 1, became the butt of the jokes and pranks. Some pranks included sticking paper fish to their backs (poisson d’avril), which was meant to mean young, easily caught fish or a gullible person.
There were a few different origins of this humorous day and you can read a few more here.
I remember growing up, we would always put some sort of note on a post-it and stick it on the backs of our peers…so, I guess that’s maybe where that came from? Hmm...interesting!
I hope you all had a safe and fun April Fools’ Day and a very happy Easter as well!
Let me know what kinds of pranks you played this year or in past years. I'd love to hear them!
